April: Wow, that all happened this month??

As Jordan and I sat eating our delicious Homemade Chicken Pot Pie dinner, we realized: April has been a crazy month! Just a quick run-down: We moved! We got the keys to our first home and Jordan came out to Kearns every day of his Spring Break in March to make home improvements and get things ready.
He installed some shelves above the washer/dryer area, ran a water line to the fridge to make ice, and set up our dryer with a new plug and a new vent.
Since then Jordan has also had our vents cleaned, installed a light in our cellar, helped the Century Link guy run a new phone line into our study for the interwebs, fixed the crib we got from our friends for only $11(thanks Nathan and Lindsay!), helped the duct cleaners find crazy hidden treasures in our vents (tea strainer from the 50's anyone? We found it!), set up the car seat and stroller that the 'rents found for us, and made numerous delicious meals in our beautiful kitchen!
We moved during the first week of April (Emma's Spring Break) and especially the first full weekend. We had some great ward friends help us out along with Emma's parents. Two Uhaul and van trips later, we had all our furniture and big things here! Although, it took us one more van trip and a few more weeks to get the apartment cleaned out, but we had time, so we took it. It was hardest to leave our old ward and friends, but we've already decided that we'll stay in touch with them. Whatever it takes. We kept going to the Millcreek 6th ward for 2 Sundays after we moved, the first because it was Easter and Emma had to lead the choir program (success, by the way!), and then it was Fast sunday and we wanted one last time with our old friends.
However, we couldn't have found a more friendly welcome in the Kearns 7th ward. They were so nice and excited to see us our first week here(April 22). Of course, we'd been living in the house for nearly 2.5 weeks, so we'd already had visits from the bishopric and the EQP at that point. On the same night, actually! (Which also happened to be Jordan's first night at work, more on that later). So, by the time we came to church on Sunday, they announced us into the ward without even having our records because they knew we were there. :)
(Sidenote: Emma actually got her visiting teacher assignment TODAY, on week 2 of being in the ward, despite the fact that for some reason her records didn't come over with Jordan's. Kearns Relief Society WIN!)
The rest of the month has passed really quickly, too. Probably due to the busyness of each day. Jordan slowly unpacking things while looking for a job, and Emma going to work. Though, really, it was adventurous at times as well. The Fourth Grade had a Spanish Language Competition down at BYU so Mrs. Hansen was in charge of getting 40 fourth graders around to different parts of campus for various activities and competitions. Espanolandia was the most entertaining. The students had to get passports,
go through customs, answer questions,
exchange money for pesos and then interact with different people in a market setting.
Really fun, but really tiring and stressful to keep track of the kiddos all across campus. Next year, we're bringing more parents!! Other than that, we've been settling in here when we have time between school, work, and helping the Sheffields pack up 30 years of life and move to the condo down the street while they tear down the house and build a new one. Exciting, but intense! Oh yeah, did we mention that Emma is now 32 weeks pregnant?! Yeah, time flies! So interject a few doctor visits and a healthy, active little fetus jumping around. We've decided to name him Clark Allan, but we're still getting used to the idea that he's going to be here, a real live baby and boy and son for the rest of forever! So we just take things one crazy pregnancy hormone at a time. We took a few more Family photos with pregnant Emma on Easter Sunday up at the Homestead.
The Hansens~ Easter 2012

What? There's a Baby in there??

These are probably some of the last pictures of the Homestead living room as it was, now it's just an empty room! (well, except the spiders and a few extra boxes).

Anyway, we also took the opportunity to take some pictures of Emma's little brother Thomas and his cute girlfriend Brianon Baker. Because they're so photogenic. :)

And, Easter wouldn't have been Easter without delicious novelty treats. Like deviled eggs. . . .

Cake
and more eggs.

Sunflower Peep Cake

Deviled Jello Eggs! (yes that is whipped cream with bits of Jello inside!)
So, I guess the point is, if May is anything like April, we'd better not wait until the end of it to blog!

  3. Congratulations on such exciting events! As for the moving... I'm sorry. We did that too. Moving while pregnant is definitely the worst. Or maybe it's just the moving that is always so awful.
